School Leadership
Marissa Carroll
Head of School
Marissa has more than two decades of experience as a teacher and administrator. Prior to moving into the Head of School role, she was the SPED Coordinator at BASIS Baton Rouge Materra. Marissa has incredible depth of knowledge and understanding of the BASIS Charter School Curriculum. Before joining BASIS Charter Schools in 2021, she worked as the Dean of Curriculum, and was responsible for: SPED coordination, business operations, state documentation submissions, and curricular overview as well as teaching for other school systems in the Baton Rouge area.

Calvin Malveaux
Head of Operations
Calvin has experience both as a teacher and administrator. Before to moving into the Head of Operations role, he served in a variety of roles including Middle School Math teacher, Elementary Math teacher, STEM teacher, and Dean of Students. Before joining BASIS Charter Schools in 2023, worked as educator in East Baton Rouge.

Amai Mokeba
Director of Academic Programs
Amai joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2023 as the Director of Academic Programs. She is an experienced educator having worked as an Instructional Coach providing academic support to multiple sites within Baton Rouge. In that role she was a program coordinator, professional development facilitator, and was responsible for state reporting and district data analysis. While serving as a classroom teacher, Amai was both a lead teacher and a mentor teacher.

Paige Bourgeois
Director of Student Affairs
Paige has experience both as a teacher and administrator. Before moving into the Director of Student Affairs role, she served in a variety of roles at BASIS Mid City including LET, SET, and Dean of Students. Before joining BASIS Charter Schools in 2021, she worked as a Kinder and 1st grade educator in both East Baton Rouge and Ascension school districts.
