BLOG GRAPHIC Flinn Scholars 2024

Congratulations to Our 2024 Flinn Scholar, Edward W.

We are thrilled to announce that BASIS Flagstaff has a 2024 Flinn Scholar! Congratulations to Edward W.!

Awarded annually by the Flinn Foundation, the Flinn Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship valued at more than $130,000. It covers tuition, housing, meals and study abroad programs at any of Arizona’s public universities.

Only 20 Flinn Scholars are chosen each year, out of more than 1,000 applicants from across Arizona. The rigorous application process makes the Flinn Scholarship one of the most prestigious scholarship awards in the state. We are proud to have a BASIS Charter School senior among the ranks of 2024 Flinn Scholars!

To qualify for the Flinn Scholarship, students must:

  • Have a 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Rank within the top 5% of their graduating class
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills at school and in their communities

Edward tells us that the application process began with an essay and multiple letters of recommendations (thank you, BASIS Flagstaff teachers!). Then, after making it to the semi-finalist round, he was interviewed by the Flinn Foundation’s selection committee. They asked him questions about his academic achievements, leadership experience and career goals. Once Edward was named a finalist, he had to go through another series of intensive interviews!

Congratulations again to Edward W. for coming out on top as a Flinn Scholar! We are excited to see what you achieve in college and beyond!

We love celebrating student accomplishments from the BASIS Charter Schools network! To see what else our students have been up to lately, check out our latest news and resources.
