Learn more about what makes our award-winning schools stand out from the rest.
Our STEM-infused, liberal arts curriculum builds upon fundamentals at an accelerated pace, progressively moving students toward a greater understanding of complex concepts. We offer a diverse range of courses, exposing students to new concepts and ideas while emphasizing skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
BASIS Charter School teachers are experts in their fields. They bring our curriculum to life every day, consistently extending their knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm to students. At every grade level, Subject Expert Teachers design challenging and engaging lessons that appeal to different learning styles.
Our students thrive in a diverse and welcoming community, creating a culture of respect, accountability, and perseverance. With a variety of extracurriculars offered at each campus, students are encouraged to pursue their individual interests and socialize with different groups.
BASIS Washington, D.C. has been educating students in the District of Columbia since 2012. Located in the heart of the historic and vibrant Penn Quarter neighborhood, our campus provides a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.
BASIS DC is open to all students who reside within the District of Columbia. As a public charter school, BASIS DC enrolls students in accordance with state and federal law; we do not restrict admission on the basis of academic achievement or any protected class.
BASIS DC participates in, and follows all rules, of the My School DC common citywide lottery. BASIS DC adopts all of the definitions of “lottery” and “waitlist” provided by My School DC. Information about the application and lottery process can be found at the My School DC website.
