Multi-Layered Security Technology

BASIS employs a comprehensive security system comprised of advanced video surveillance, access control systems, intrusion alarms, discreet panic alert buttons, and a robust visitor management system. These integrated technologies work together to proactively deter unauthorized access, monitor activity, and ensure a safe learning environment.

Anonymous Reporting System

BASIS Charter Schools offer a secure and anonymous reporting system, through a partnership with Sandy Hook Promise, that empowers students to report any safety concerns they may have. This system allows students to be upstanders and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

Our faculty and staff participate in regular Standard Response Protocol (SRP) training, a program developed by the I Love U Guys Foundation. This comprehensive training equips them to effectively respond to a variety of emergency situations.

Standard Reunification Method (SRM)

To ensure efficient reunification of students with their families following an emergency, all BASIS staff and school leaders undergo comprehensive training in the I Love U Guys Foundation’s SRM program. Additionally, a reunification exercise is conducted annually to test and refine our protocols.

CSTAG Behavioral Threat Assessments

Our staff participates in regular training and updates on the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) model, a nationally recognized approach to identifying and mitigating potential behavioral threats.

Comprehensive Security Assessments

BASIS Charter Schools conduct regular security assessments aligned with the U.S. Department of Education’s best practices. These assessments identify potential vulnerabilities and inform proactive measures to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.

Emergency Operations Plan

Our commitment to student safety is reflected in our safety and security plan, which is developed in accordance with the most up-to-date state and federal guidelines.

FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Training

Our Heads of School and Directors actively participate in FEMA’s ICS training program, equipping them with the necessary skills for effective incident management and emergency response. This ensures a coordinated and efficient response in the event of an unforeseen situation.

Emergency Preparedness Drills

Regularly scheduled lockdown and fire drills are conducted to ensure students, faculty, and staff are prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations. These drills promote familiarity with safety procedures and foster a culture of preparedness.
