Our tuition-free, public charter school serves students in grades K–5 that reside in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District. We are proud to be part of the BASIS Charter Schools network which has been providing world-class education since 1998. Our campuses follow a STEM-infused, liberal arts program designed to propel your student farther than they ever thought possible.

Rosalind Thompson
Head of School
Rosalind joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2013 after a long career in large corporations. She has led 6 different BASIS Charter Schools across the country and is the founding Head of School for BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City. She enjoys the city of Baton Rouge, the families, and especially the students.

Andy Riewe
Head of Operations
Andy began his career in education in 2007. Originally from Texas, he has taught middle school math, acted as an elementary school Dean, and coached tennis. He has been with BASIS Charter Schools since 2019, serving both the Materra and Mid-City campuses.

Stacey Wilton
Director of Academic Programs
Stacey began her career in education in 2010. Originally from New Orleans, she has taught elementary grades K–3 in Baton Rouge. Stacey has been with BASIS Charter Schools since 2020, serving as an LET, SET, Curriculum Coordinator, and Director of Academic Programs.

Shandi Fazely
Director of Student Affairs
Shandi began her career in education in 2007. She has held various positions over the years such as AP Biology Teacher, college counselor, and private school admissions and development. Shandi joined BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City in 2021 as the Director of Student Affairs.
