Our tuition-free, public charter school serves students in grades K–5 that reside in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District. We are proud to be part of the BASIS Charter Schools network which has been providing world-class education since 1998. Rosalind Thompson
Head of School
Rosalind joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2013 after a long career in large corporations. She has led 6 different BASIS Charter Schools across the country and is the founding Head of School for BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City. She enjoys the city of Baton Rouge, the families, and especially the students.

Andy Riewe
Head of Operations
Andy began his career in education in 2007. Originally from Texas, he has taught middle school math, acted as an elementary school Dean, and coached tennis. He has been with BASIS Charter Schools since 2019, serving both the Materra and Mid-City campuses.

Amanda-Marie Black
Director of Student Affairs
Amanda-Marie has been with BASIS Charter Schools since 2014. Since joining BASIS Charter Schools she has been a teacher, Dean, and Director of Student Affairs. She is a Kansas native and has experience in the behavioral health and education fields. Her focus is in creating strong communities and relationships, starting with communication and collaboration.
