Welcome to BASIS Baton Rouge Materra, home of the Gators!
BASIS Baton Rouge Materra is a tuition-free, public charter school serving students in grades K–10 who reside in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District. We are adding a grade level every school year and will be serving grades K–12 by the 2026–27 school year. We are proud to be part of the BASIS Charter Schools network, which has been providing world-class education since 1998. Our campuses follow a STEM-infused, liberal arts program designed to propel your student farther than they ever thought possible.

Jared Lamb
Head of School
Jared began his career in education in 2002. He has served as a math and science teacher, as well as a school principal in New Orleans before joining BASIS Charter Schools in 2022.

Head of Operations
Debbie has been with BASIS Charter Schools since 2017. She has 18 years of experience running nonprofits and small business. Her experience in education spans early childhood to adult education as well as workforce development.

Shandi Fazely
Director of Student Affairs
Shandi began her career in education in 2007. She has held various positions over the years such as AP Biology Teacher, college counselor, and private school admissions and development. Shandi joined BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City in 2021 as the Director of Student Affairs.

Lori began her career in education in 2000 in Katy, Texas. She joined the BASIS Baton Rouge Materra family in 2021.

Lyndah Anderson
Campus Director
Lyndah began her career in education with BASIS Charter Schools in 2014. She has held the roles of Subject Expert Teacher and Director of Academic Programs.

Mackenzie Garcia
Director of Academic Programs
Mackenzie began her career in Education in 2007 after attaining a BS in Elementary Education. She earned her master’s degree in Ed Leadership from LSU in 2011 and her National Board Certification in 2014. Mackenzie joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2023 as a Director of Academic Programs.
