What Makes Us Special

BASIS San Antonio Shavano is proud to be the highest-ranked high school in the San Antonio area. We set high expectations for our students and encourage them to pursue their interests outside of the classroom. Our middle and high school Science Bowl teams consistently perform well in national competitions, and two BASIS San Antonio Shavano alumni have won a Coolidge Scholarship, one of the most competitive scholarships in the country.

BASIS San Antonio Shavano extracurriculars change year to year based on student interest. Some of our most recent offerings include Chess Club, Choir, Film Club, Speech and Debate, Science Bowl, and UNICEF Club. We are also proud to offer team sports such as Basketball, Flag Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, and Swim. 

At BASIS San Antonio Shavano, our after-school program (Late Bird) fees are $250/month. Our daily “drop-in” fee is $30. Financial aid is available for qualifying families.

A typical class size at BASIS San Antonio Shavano is about 25–30 students. 

Beginning in grade 8, students may choose to study French, Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, or Latin.

Personal devices (including cell phones, smart watches, and computers) are not allowed in school. Students should leave their devices at home or keep them turned off and stored in their lockers or cubby.

Because cubbies are not a secure storage space, it is not advised that students store their valuables here. Please note that the school is not liable for lost or stolen devices.
