BASIS Baton Rouge Charter Schools Receive Top Ratings From Louisiana Department of Education

The Louisiana Department of Education just released its annual School Performance scores for 2024. We are excited to announce that BASIS Baton Rouge Materra has officially received an “A” rating for the second year in a row. Plus, BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City received a “B” rating, reflecting the school’s recent academic gains. Congratulations to both of our Baton Rouge campuses!

The Louisiana Department of Education School Performance Scores are based on criteria such as year-to-year student academic progress and proficiency on the state assessment for grades 3–8. The scores are an indicator of how well a school prepares its students for the next level of study.

BASIS Baton Rouge Materra received a score of 102.3 and an “A” letter grade. This marks an improvement of 11.5 points from the school’s 2023 score of 90.8. In earning this ranking, BASIS Baton Rouge Materra has cemented itself as the top-performing open-enrollment school in East Baton Rouge. In fact, BASIS Materra is the only “A” rated school in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District that is open to all students. As an open-enrollment public charter school, BASIS Materra has no entrance exams. All students are welcome!

BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City received a score of 76.6 and a “B” letter grade. This marks an improvement of a staggering 19.3 points from the school’s 2023 score of 57.3. Earlier this year, BASIS Mid City earned the highest academic gains in the entire state of Louisiana on the LEAP test. Our Mid City campus is growing fast, and our students are soaring to new heights every day! This “B” ranking is a testament to the hard work of our students and faculty.

Both BASIS Baton Rouge Materra and BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City are committed to providing East Baton Rouge students with a transformative, tuition-free education. We pride ourselves on our collaborative, supportive community. Over the next few years, we will continue to work closely with our families to drive ongoing innovation and improvement.

Congratulations again to all of the hardworking students, teachers, and staff at both of our Baton Rouge campuses. Your support is what makes these impressive results possible!
