Building Blocks Preschool Rebrands as BASIS Beginners Preschool

Building Blocks Preschool is now BASIS Beginners Preschool, reflecting the school’s commitment to preparing students for the BASIS Charter Schools academic program.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jun 26, 2025 – BASIS Ed, the education management organization that oversees the renowned BASIS Charter Schools network, is proud to announce a new beginning for its private preschool in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Created by the founders of BASIS Charter Schools, Building Blocks Preschool opened in 2020 with the goal of preparing early learners ages 3–5 for kindergarten success. Now, Building Blocks Preschool is changing its name to BASIS Beginners Preschool.

“This new name reflects our ongoing commitment to aligning our preschool program with the high standards and innovative approach of BASIS Charter Schools,” says Peter Bezanson, CEO and Co-Chair of BASIS Educational Ventures. “Our preschool has always provided a seamless transition into the BASIS Kindergarten program—and the name ‘BASIS Beginners’ drives home that connection!”

Along with the name change, the preschool will be moving to a new location. Starting in August 2025, BASIS Beginners Preschool will be located at 11440 N 136th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85259. The preschool will share a campus with BASIS Scottsdale Primary East, a K–4 public charter school in the BASIS Charter Schools network.

Preschool Director Kellie Kunzman is thrilled to lead BASIS Beginners Preschool into this exciting new chapter. “Sharing a campus with BASIS Scottsdale Primary East allows us to gain access to the primary school’s exceptional facilities, including playgrounds and multi-purpose rooms,” says Kunzman. “With this larger space, we can welcome more students while enhancing the quality of our academic program. I’m confident our current families and new families alike will love the new location!”

Laney Culp, Head of School at BASIS Scottsdale Primary East, says that these changes will bring exciting opportunities for her community, too. “We have a lot of parents here who have younger children between the ages of 3 to 5. BASIS Beginners will be a convenient early education option for these families, providing a preK program specifically designed to prepare children for kindergarten at BASIS Charter Schools.”

The rebrand and relocation of BASIS Beginners Preschool will be formalized by the start of the upcoming school year. For more information on BASIS Beginners Preschool—including information on how to apply for the 2025–26 school year—visit BASISBeginnersPreK.com
