Congratulations to Our 2025 National Merit Scholars!

We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of over 90 Class of 2025 graduates who have been recognized as National Merit® Scholars.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is one of the most prestigious academic competitions in the United States. This year’s program began in October 2023 when high school juniors took the PSAT/NMSQT®. Out of more than 1.3 million entrants nationwide, approximately 16,000 students were named Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

From that group, over 15,000 advanced to Finalist standing, and by the conclusion of the competition, more than 6,930 students will have earned the title of “Merit Scholar” and received scholarships totaling nearly $26 million.

This year’s honorees from BASIS Charter Schools have demonstrated:

  • Outstanding academic records and coursework rigor
  • Exceptional performance on the PSAT/NMSQT®
  • Leadership in school and community activities
  • Thoughtful student essays and recommendations from educators

Congratulations to each of our 2025 National Merit Scholars. Earning this recognition is an extraordinary accomplishment, and we are so proud of our graduates for representing the very best of BASIS Charter Schools.

Types of National Merit Scholarships

National Merit Scholars may be awarded:

  • National Merit $2500 Scholarships – Provided directly by NMSC®, this $2,500 scholarship may be used at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university.
  • Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarships – These scholarships are awarded by partnering corporations and vary in amount. Corporations often choose winners who live in the same communities where the company is located or who are majoring in fields relevant to the company.
  • College-sponsored Merit Scholarships – These scholarships are awarded by specific colleges that are Merit Scholarship sponsors. College-sponsored scholarships are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study and range from $500 to $2,000 per year.
