BASIS Phoenix Symphonic Band Earns Top at Statewide Festival

BASIS Phoenix is proud to celebrate an exceptional musical achievement by our students. The BASIS Phoenix Symphonic Band has earned a “Superior – With Distinction” rating at the 2025 Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA) Fall Concert Festival, hosted at Chandler–Gilbert Community College.

This distinction represents the highest possible rating awarded by ABODA and reflects outstanding musical excellence, preparation, and performance.

ABODA festivals are among the most respected performance assessments for student musicians in Arizona. Ensembles are evaluated by expert adjudicators on tone quality, musicality, technical accuracy, and adherence to state and national music standards.

Earning a Superior – With Distinction rating places the BASIS Phoenix Symphonic Band at the very top tier of performing ensembles statewide, an achievement that speaks to the dedication of our student musicians and the high expectations that define the BASIS experience.

About the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA)

The Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization that supports instrumental music education across the state. Serving more than 1,000 elementary, secondary, and collegiate band and orchestra programs, ABODA plays a vital role in advancing music education through:

  • Educationally assessed performance festivals
  • Competitions, concerts, and honor ensembles
  • Professional development and support for music educators

Each year, over 30,000 students participate in ABODA events across concert band, strings, marching band, and jazz ensemble disciplines. ABODA is also a constituent member of the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA) and collaborates with music education organizations statewide and nationally.
