BASIS Students Honored With 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholar Recognition
Last week, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona announced the 59th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars. This award recognizes high school seniors “for their accomplishments in academics, the arts, and career and technical education fields.” Out of the 161 students selected for this honor, two are from a BASIS Charter School. Congratulations to Rachana Gurudu from BASIS Scottsdale and Hannah Guan from BASIS San Antonio Shavano Campus!
Every year, the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars selects scholars based on academic success, artistic and technical excellence, essays, school evaluations, and transcripts. U.S. Presidential Scholars must also show a demonstrated commitment to community service and leadership. In 2023, over 5,000 candidates were narrowed down to 161 finalists.
We are thrilled to have two students recognized for this prestigious award. Congratulations on becoming U.S. Presidential Scholars!
