Niche ranks schools by gathering data from a variety of sources, including the U.S. Department of Education and the National Center for Education Statistics. In addition, Niche weighs reviews from current and former families, as well as results from student- and parent-submitted surveys. The organization’s K–12 rankings aim to give parents a comprehensive view of schools in their neighborhood.

The BASIS Texas Charter Schools network claimed the top three spots in the Best Public Elementary Schools in San Antonio category:

BASIS Washington, D.C. earned an “A+” ranking from Niche. The school was recognized as the #2 Best Public Middle School in the District of Columbia, as well as the #3 Best Public High School in the District of Columbia.
